THE SECRET WORLD OF FINANCIAL DOMINATION
Sex secrets LOGO FINAL_edited.jpg

So what's it all about...

Why this topic?
I was made aware of the bizarre world by an anonymous message on a dating platform. The message abruptly read "can I send you 20 quid?". Perplexed and suspicious to say the least, my first thought was 'that's a scam'. I asked why "what the hell?" and "why would you do that?" This was my first encounter with Findom. Conversation followed where I asked them to explain their experience with sending money for gratification and why they do it.  This caught me. It's weird. It's taboo. It's unknown. It's unfathomable to most people. This is the perfect topic for an investigative journalism piece. Trying to get in the head of people involved in the scene, both the submissive and dominant participants. As well as hearing real life opinions from clinical professionals.
Real accounts. Real stories. Professional opinions.
What's the end goal?
A finished expose piece surrounding the topic of Financial Domination. The moral conflict and dangerous nature of the scene for those involved - both the positives and the potential harm it can cause to men involved. This website and blog will document the journey along the way, detailing any trials and tribulations, with previews of interviews and behind the scenes sneak peaks of my  journey to the final piece.

The final piece will be uploaded and available to read here! but in the mean time please make sure to follow my social channels to keep up to date with the project and get notified when it's ready to read.

Sex secrets LOGO FINAL.png
I've designed this logo to be present in all aspects of the major multimedia project - using it both of social media platforms and on the website as a show of consistency. The logo is also forward and upfront about the topic area, making sure people are aware of the subject. The graphic style chosen represents the taboo and underground nature of the project.

Alfie Walker
Journalist
I'm a final year student at Bournemouth University studying Multimedia Journalism.

With our final year assessment piece being the Major Multimedia
Project (MMP), an original piece of long form story telling, I felt this the perfect opportunity to talk about an unrepresented or in danger area of the LGBTQ+ community. Using my platform as a trainee journalist to open peoples eyes to an issue or subsection of the world they may not even be aware of.

This production blog will detail the journey to my final piece that will be published on the 14th of December. Showing the journey from inception to final publishing. Not only will this blog justify choices made along the way and developments of the project, but also any difficulties I have, as well as teasers of content to come. Please check back regularly for blog posts and the final piece on December 14th.
