Reaching out to sources is difficult at the best of times. One constant through this 3 year course I've found is difficulty and stress of sourcing interviews. Often your whole story relies on people getting back to you and being willing to talk and often divulge personal information. The main social media platform that the community operate on is X.com (formally Twitter), so this right from the start of the project is that way I plan on and have already reached out to my potential interviewees.

There's more than 2 sides to a story:
So far I've reached out to multiple participants on both side of the fetish - often labelled as submissive and dominant participants. Participants on the submissive side are predominantly hidden and do not show themselves off on their accounts - this is already proving a challenge with finding people willing to talk openly about the effects of this life style on them and their further lives. It's a private and very personal part of someone's life - I should have expected some major difficulty getting some sources.
The dominant participants have quite the opposite online appearance. They actively post and promote their pages, actively seeking attention and new people to talk to and enjoy the fetish with. With a simple search of #Findom on Twitter, you can see these post promoting themselves and seeking new people. I have contacted multiple of these people by both DM and their personal email that many have included in their bios to try reach out and get their story.
A professional opinion is key to balance. With a topic as taboo and personal as this, I want to make sure that no assumptions are made and I have a professionals voice and experience in this piece. It's proving difficult to find a strictly professional opinion, from sex therapists or psychologist, this is why I have also started contacting academics who have written papers or journals on the subject - their researched and academic/professional opinion will also be valuable to the final piece.
