With just over 2 weeks left until final publishing, I thought I'd reflect on the journey so far. From the get-go this project has proved difficult to secure interviews - when looking at my original barebones plan (images bellow) that I set out, by this stage I was hoping to have at least 6 interviews - 2 from opposing sides of the scene and a professional opinion.

Submissive Participants: So far these are the only 2 interviews I've secured - originally I had scouted and found 3 different men all different ages and with different opinions and stories regarding the scene. At this stage I have interviewed two of them, with the third now being hesitant to talk (understandable with the subject matter). I have two strong interviews from both Lewis and Rhys, both with varying opinions and experiences - this adds a nice dimension to the story, showing how even on the submissive side there are varied opinions.

I'm also considering a VoxPop style of mini interviews to put throughout the piece. I will have my two (hopefully three) main interviews to centre the piece around, but a supporting few anecdotes of other men's experiences would be great to fill out the article and add more opinions and experiences.

Dominant Participants: Those I have contacted are unfortunately unwilling to talk, their main worry was exposure and potentially their identity leaking -I think this clearly shows a moral conflict with those 'taking the money' which will be a great angle in the final piece. They are conscious of the wider public knowing about this and this is a worry for them. This has been a constant and incredibly prominent issue to consider all the way through this project - I have detailed some ethics considerations in another blogpost. I'm going to continue to contact more dominant participants for interviews, specifically focusing on those who are open with this and are happy with full exposure.

A Professional Opinion: This topic is not talked about. Other than the occasional article from publications such as Vice or Buzzfeed and a very occasional pulpy article from a major tabloid there isn't much about it online. This means gaining a professional prospective on the subject has proved very hard. I've contacted multiple sex therapists who acknowledge the fetish, as well as a sex psychologist and writer. I'm yet to have a successful response, but will continue to contact. I have now started using Google Scholar to find any reports or papers on the subject and find a professional voice that way.
